There is a Protestant form of this also.........  sure is  there is also a political aspect as well (just ask amillenial grummy, preterist pink pansey speedwriter, or even there's a fixed trinity heirarchy drobby). It flows from false relegiousity to politics right to the heart of the nation: Note:

1. islam claims it is the inheiritor of all biblical promises.

2. islam claims the OT was corrupted by jews and that Abraham was a moslem and prophet of allah. he did not offer up Isaac, but Ishmael so that Moslems are the only true descendants of Allah. the jews are the bondsmen who corrupted the original OT text and that the revelation of the koran to mohammed is the real honest truth.

3. islam also claims Christians corrupted the NT and that Jesus was a prophet of Allah and that he prophecized about Mohammed. According to moslems when Christ promises the HS, it really meant the prophet Mohammed and Christians produced a false gosple to cover up this 'real' prediction.

At issue is how heretics (catholics and moslems) have historically used false babylonian religions to promote their political agendas. This is the same for preterists and amillenialists who will be used by the false prophet and the beast first to usher in the tribulation and then to oppress the jews during the tribulation. This is all done by corrupting scripture.

Furthermore there are politcal christians who use the gospels to promote their own political agendas.
